S.R. Laws
S.R. LAWS IS OUT THERE: He approaches songwriting with a passion for songs that we all grew up on. His sound rings a familiar bell in your head while still delivering ideas completely unique. He draws inspiration from outstanding storytellers like John Hiatt, Lucinda Williams, Rodney Crowell, Steve Earle, Neil Finn, Patty Griffin, Chuck Prophet, and Ron Sexsmith. All of their music and others have carved a deep groove.
Growing up out there in Northern California, he developed a unique connection to music early on. His father worked as a trash collector, and he would spend hours sifting through bags of discarded 45 records. Each find felt like stumbling upon hidden treasures. Some records were covered in dirt and grime, while others were pristine. The thrill of discovering new sounds was exhilarating, and he could hardly wait to drop the needle and immerse himself in the music.
He embarked on a pilgrimage to Texas with just two suitcases and $500 in his bank account. His goal was to dive into the vibrant music scene and learn from fellow songwriters. Austin, known as the "Live Music Capital of the World," offered countless opportunities for him to grow as an artist. Open mics and songwriters' nights became his training ground, where he soaked up every moment, listening to others share their stories through music.
These days, he resides in Sonoma County, California, working hard as a touring artist and singer-songwriter for his original rock band, The Heartsleeves. He invites everyone to join him on this musical journey, sharing his songs one person at a time in this vast and unpredictable world we live in.
